Prior to his current career, Mr. Morgan was the district attorney of DeKalb County, Georgia. He is in wide demand as a public speaker for schools, churches, and community groups. He has appeared on many television programs, including CNN’s Talk Back Live, The Oprah Winfrey Show, and the Today Show.

Mr. Morgan has published a book, Ignorance is No Defense: A Teenager’s Guide to Georgia Law. The book is an approachable explanation of the law, using real-world examples to illustrate its points.

This episode of podmissum features Dr. Mark Crawford. Dr. Crawford is a partner in an outpatient practice in Atlanta, Georgia and is a consulting psychologist to The Westminster Schools and Pace Academy. He is also team psychologist for the Atlanta Hawks basketball team.

Dr. Crawford has published many works on the psychological challenges facing adolescents, with topics including substance abuse, parent-child conflict, and the diagnosis of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. He has been a guest on Good Morning America, World News Now, House Call with Dr. Sanjay Gupta, and CNN Headline News.

This episode of podmissum features Dean of Harvard Divinity School David Hempton. Named the outstanding teacher of the year in 2008, he was recently granted a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities and has given the F.D. Maurice Lecture at King’s College London and the Cadbury Lecture at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom. Prior to his appointment at Harvard in the spring of 2007, Hempton was a professor of christianity at Boston University and director of the School of History at Queen’s University Belfast. At Harvard’s Divinity School, he has encouraged more discourse with the Arts and Sciences faculty leading to a broader intellectual dialogue on religion.

Hempton studies evangelicalism on a global scale, with a focus on the early modern period. He has written numerous books and articles; his latest titles include Methodism: Empire of the Spirit (Yale, 2005), Evangelical Disenchantment (Yale, 2008), and The Church in the Long Eighteenth Century (Tauris, 2011). He is currently working on a study of the secularization of Europe and America from the eighteenth-century to the present day.

Dean Hempton was invited to speak at Trinity on the morning of 11 September 2014 at the opening Upper School Chapel of the 2014-2015 academic year. He is introduced by Calista Lee ’11 and after his talk there is a brief question and answer period with Upper School students.

Aaron Smithson ’15 is the New York State winner of the United States Institute of Peace National Peace Essay Contest for 2014. A rising senior at Trinity, Aaron has been interested in international relations for as long as he can remember. He discovered the contest by searching online, looking for something additional to do his junior year at Trinity. He decided that it would be interesting, and challenging, to write about security sector reform in Somalia and Sierra Leone.

Aaron’s research into the topic, as well as his work on his winning essay, gave him fascinating insights into security sector reform in developing nations. His interview is thoughtful, insightful, compelling, and riveting. Listen in, you’ll be amazed.

This episode of podmissum features Gloria Steinem, a prominent American feminist, political activist, and author. A leader of the women’s liberation movement in the 1960s and 1970s, Ms. Steinem co-founded Ms. magazine, and has written for New York Magazine, the New York Times Magazine, Esquire, and many other domestic and international publications. In 2005, along with Jane Fonda and Robin Morgan, she co-founded the Women’s Media Center.

Ms. Steinem is the author of Revolution from Within: A Book of Self-Esteem, Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellions, and Marilyn: Norma Jean, a biography of the actress. She is currently writing Road to the Heart: America As if Everyone Mattered, a book about her experiences as a feminist organizer. In addition to her activism in the pursuit of gender equality, Ms. Steinem also writes and lectures on other progressive social issues such as racial equality, LGBT rights, abortion, and the death penalty.

A recipient of many awards and honors, Ms. Steinem was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame in 1993 and was the American Humanist Association’s 2012 Humanist of the Year. In 2013 she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Ms. Steinem was invited to speak at Trinity's Upper School Community Time on the morning of 5 May 2014 as a guest of the Feminist Club. Jessica Bagby, Trinity's Upper School principal, introduces the morning's program and she is followed by Feminist Club members Miranda Coombe ’14 and Caroline Monahan ’14. This episode of podmissum features Dr. Anne Marie Albano, who is an associate professor of clinical psychology in psychiatry and director of the Clinic for Anxiety and Related Disorders in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center. In 2001 Dr. Albano was named a Beck Institute Scholar. She is an associate editor of the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology and she is the president of the Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology of the American Psychological Association.

Dr. Albano helps children, adolescents, and adults who struggle with anxiety and depression to master their concerns and embrace life's challenges instead of fearing them. She is the author of the book You and Your Anxious Child: Free Your Child from Fears and Worries and Create a Joyful Family Life. Dr. Albano conducts clinical research, supervises the research and clinical development of postdoctoral fellows in psychology and psychiatry, and is involved in advanced training of senior level clinicians in the application of cognitive behavioral approaches to diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Albano was invited to speak at Trinity on the morning of 29 April 2014 as a guest of the health and parenting committee of the Parents’ Association. She spoke about helping children cope with anxiety and took questions from an audience of Trinity parents.

This episode of podmissum features Jackson Katz. Dr. Katz is an anti-sexist male activist, as well as an educator, author, filmmaker, and cultural theorist. He is internationally recognized for his groundbreaking work in the field of gender violence prevention education and critical media literacy. He is the co-founder of the Mentors In Violence Prevention program, the leading gender violence prevention initiative in professional and college athletics. Dr. Katz is also the creator and co-creator of educational videos for college and high school students as well as the author of two books: The Macho Paradox: Why Some Men Hurt Women and How All Men Can Help and Leading Men: Presidential Campaigns and the Politics of Manhood.

Dr. Katz spoke at Trinity’s Upper School Community Time on 10 February 2014 and made an evening presentation to parents and students on 11 February 2014. This podcast is mostly drawn from the evening presentation, although some parts of the Community Time presentation have been woven in. The evening presentation was jointly sponsored by Trinity School, Ethical Culture Fieldston School, and Riverdale Country School.
