This episode of podmissum features Gloria Steinem, a prominent American feminist, political activist, and author. A leader of the women’s liberation movement in the 1960s and 1970s, Ms. Steinem co-founded Ms. magazine, and has written for New York Magazine, the New York Times Magazine, Esquire, and many other domestic and international publications. In 2005, along with Jane Fonda and Robin Morgan, she co-founded the Women’s Media Center. Ms. Steinem is the author of Revolution from Within: A Book of Self-Esteem, Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellions, and Marilyn: Norma Jean, a biography of the actress. She is currently writing Road to the Heart: America As if Everyone Mattered, a book about her experiences as a feminist organizer. In addition to her activism in the pursuit of gender equality, Ms. Steinem also writes and lectures on other progressive social issues such as racial equality, LGBT rights, abortion, and the death penalty. Ms. Steinem was invited to speak at Trinity's Upper School Community Time on the morning of 5 May 2014 as a guest of the Feminist Club. Jessica Bagby, Trinity's Upper School principal, introduces the morning's program and she is followed by Feminist Club members Miranda Coombe ’14 and Caroline Monahan ’14. This episode of podmissum features Dr. Anne Marie Albano, who is an associate professor of clinical psychology in psychiatry and director of the Clinic for Anxiety and Related Disorders in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center. In 2001 Dr. Albano was named a Beck Institute Scholar. She is an associate editor of the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology and she is the president of the Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology of the American Psychological Association.
